Above you see pictures of the brochures and ads for the Darby Sailboard. The photo on the upper left show a model at the Pennsylvania Boat Show in 1965. As you can see from the above brochures photographs, these sailboards have a universal joint on this free sail system. Copies of these photos, original movies and other photos along with examples of some of the original pieces of windsurfing equipment will be housed at the Smithsonian Institute some time in 1998. One of the original Darby Sailboard can be seen at the Pennsylvania State museum in Harrisburg PA. If you are interested you can obtain a home video containing copies of the original home movies, tons of photos, and great sailboard history. See the special offer on this web site. All hosted and narrated by Newman Darby in the flesh. There is a limited number of enlarged autographed still photos available for purchase. See special offer
section or call our phone number on our home page.

The photo to the left shows the barn the Newman brothers rented for use as a warehouse and manufacturing plant to build, store and sell the first sailboards. This was in 1965.

The picture to the left depicts Newman's daughter Cindy on a patented simulator which was also manufactured at the factory above. I have used this simulator. It is the safest and one of the easiest to use when teaching new students to windsurf.
